Food quote of the day

I’ve been sick for the past couple days, I blame it on the hubby since he has been out in the real world collecting germs to bring back to the apartment to infect me. So my favorite sick-day activity is catching up on my mid-afternoon TV shows, which inevitably end up being food-related. Go figure…. 😉

So, I was watching Anthony Bourdain exploring the US-Mexico border yesterday and he mentioned a George Orwell quote. I like quotes. I think there are times when something is written so perfectly that there is no need to muck it up with my own shotty vocabulary. And believe me, it’s shotty. Is shotty a word? Anyway, here’s the quote:

“A human being is primarily a bag for putting food into; the other functions and faculties may be more godlike, but in point of time they come afterwards.”
— George Orwell

With that being said, I like being a food-bag.

Yes, I’m alive and no, I didn’t forget about you

As I entered into August, I entered another stage of my life…. married life!! On the 13th I married the love of my life, Jeff, and we went on a 10-day honeymoon in Hawaii. So needless to say, that’s why there was a lack of posts on my blog. Continue reading

Short break…

Sorry about not posting for the past couple weeks. There has been a flurry of activities in my life. Between graduation and now there has been: a wedding shower, packing to move, writing Thank You’s for said wedding shower, long-distance wedding planning, and assembling invitations to send out in the next couple days. AHHH! Maybe I’m being a bit overly dramamtic. All-in-all, it hasn’t been too bad but I thought that I would be less busy after I finished classes. Continue reading

My foray into the blogosphere…

Is blogosphere a word? I don’t think it is. Oh well… this is a weird beginning, let’s start over.

This is my first post!! I’m pretty excited about this, since my last attempt at blogging was in high school and it was a sad attempt… a sad attempt indeed. I don’t even remember the name of the blog, what I wrote about, or what the address is. This is a weird beginning too…. uh oh, let’s start over again…

I would say that I’m a pretty good cook. I mostly cook for my fiance, Jeff, and on occasion host a dinner party for friends. They say I’m pretty good, too. I’ve been cooking for most of my life and I really enjoy cooking. And eating, boy, do I love eating!! So lately, I’ve been perusing various food blogs and thinking to myself, “hey, I can do that! It wouldn’t be too hard and I think it would be kind of fun!” And so starts this adventure.

So, I can’t wait to get cooking and share with you my food exploits at home, across Chicago, and maybe there might be some traveling involved…. 🙂
